Database Administrator

This is a full-time on-site role for a Database Administrator located in the Athens Metropolitan Area. The Database Administrator will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing database systems to ensure their performance, security, and availability. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring database performance, implementing backup and recovery strategies, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring data integrity. Additionally, the role involves designing database structures, setting up replication processes, and applying required updates and patches.
ΑΡΜΟΔΙΟΤΗΤΕΣ ΘΕΣΗΣ Installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of Oracle databases
Manage Oracle databases both on-Premise and Clouds
Managing user permissions on databases.
Checking developer scripts for errors or for performing unauthorized actions.
Checking, updating, and implementing security policies and procedures.
Checking and adjusting the databases to ensure that they run smoothly and according to the specifications of the deliverables.
Communicate with contractors for any deficiencies in project deliverables or documentation.
Experience with Oracle Linux and AIX operating systems.
Linux shell scripting and use of SQL & PL/SQL for simple reports.
Communication with other departments such as security, networks, systems (operational) to resolve any issues in the overall infrastructure operation.
Close monitoring of systems to prevent potential failures, or malfunctions.
Suggesting changes that will bring about higher performance in applications and/or queries to the databases. (Performance Tuning)
Optimize performance using the available Statspack & AWR tools
Training Junior DBAs on database administration so that they can confidently assist in day to day tasks.
Upgrades and porting to newer versions. Installation of corrective Patches.
Active participation in the database design and development phases.
Design and operation of maintenance procedures, ensuring that databases, meet user requirements.
Liaising with developers, IT project managers and technical staff.
Managing database security/integrity and backing up databases. (RMAN)
Testing & modifying databases to ensure they are operating reliably.
Archiving and replicating data, using various methods such as Multi-Master replication, Active Dataguard, GoldenGate
Creating and maintaining db-links when databases are moved to different equipment/infrastructure.
Understanding networking standards and best practices. Develop and maintain technical documentation.
Experience with ticketing systems such as JIRA and ServiceNow.
Ensuring SLAs and targets are met.
ΑΠΑΡΑΙΤΗΤΑ ΠΡΟΣΟΝΤΑ Bachelor’s degree from a University or College or Technological Educational Institute in Informatics or Computer Engineering or a related field
5+ years of proven experience in a Systems Administrator or similar role
Excellent knowledge of the English language
Experience in Oracle RDBMS, Oracle ExaData & Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
Certifications in Oracle Cloud Database Migration and Integration Certified Specialist, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Certified Architect Associate, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Foundations Certified Associate, Oracle Certified Professional Database Administrator will be considered as a plus.
